Anoushka is a British-American sitarist and musician. She was the first woman of her generation to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, who is just a emerging star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing around from London in the UK to New Delhi. Her debut concert was in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman however she's got an impressive career in music and performance. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. At the age of nine, she began her studies in music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar 4 years later during his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. The father of Anoushka travelled the world with her and she gained many experience. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
